Please reach us at info@bigteamgolf.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Big Team Golf is a simple way to organize your golf matches. Select teams and create games based on a running weight for each player. There is no time spent on the first tee arguing over who is on what team or whether the teams are fair or not; because they are based on score and birdie averages from previous matches.
Big Team Golf relies on two data points to select the teams: 1) average gross score and 2) average birdies per round. Each player is given a weight based off the running average from the last 20 rounds. Once players are selected for the match, the algorithm will create teams with balanced weighting.
Occasionally, by agreement of the group, a player will need to moved off a team or moved to a certain team. We recommend finding a player with the same, or similar, weighting to switch teams with the player that needs to be moved (weightings will be listed next to each player when teams are ran)
While inside your club, select the 'Run Teams' tab at the top. Select all players that will be playing, then click the 'Run Teams' button above the search bar. The default setting is to create the least number of teams possible with a maximum of 5 players per team. If your course does not allow fivesomes, or you would like more teams, you can change the amount of teams at the top and re-run. Once you have the correct number of teams selected and everything looks good, choose the 'Create Match' button at the bottom of the screen. This will allow you to save this game to your database. Make sure to go to the 'Games' tab at the top of the home screen to enter everyone’s score and number of birdies after play is completed.
Once your round has been completed, you will need to enter your score and birdies for that day. Select the 'Games' tab at the top of the screen. Your created game will show up. Once you've selected your game, choose ‘Enter Score’ next to each player to enter their score and number of birdies. Make sure to hit 'Save' for each player. Note: Each player can enter their own score or you can designate one player from each team to input scores for their team. We suggest assigning this duty to the Captain of the team
Inform one of the group's administrators, and they can go to the players section and edit the score
When you have less than 20 rounds entered, the fluctuations will be more extreme. One round will be much more influential when there are fewer data points, but the large changes will level off the more rounds you input.
Our Android app is still in the development stage. As of right now, we are only available on the App Store via iOS. You are still able to be in a group and have your scores/birdies recorded, but will not be able to access the features of the app: running teams, entering scores, and checking statistics
Scores should only be entered for full 18 hole rounds. If you are having a 9 hole match, whether an E9 after play or just a late afternoon get together, use the team selector to run teams, but do not create a match
